Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Although geographically Maine and South America may seem as distant as possible, they share an important staple food - corn. Join the founders of Maíz Colombian Street food as they share different steps in their journey of building a business around using this incredible food to connect new Mainers to their new home.

Jay Robinson, Farmer at Sweet Land Farm in Starks and Ana Maria Zabala, a Colombian-born graduate of COA, will join the discussion to speak to the complexities of working with corn - from growth to consumption - as well as the personal impact of exploring this staple food on a deeper level. Participants will have a chance to experiment with masa from different varieties of corn, as well as dive into the conversation surrounding this staple crop that has connected North and South America for thousands of years.
